Letter From the Secretary-Generals
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is our greatest pleasure to welcome you to the second annual GWAMUN conference. In light of COVID-19, the GWAMUN secretariat has made the decision to host our conference virtually to guarantee its accessibility to delegates worldwide.
This Virtual Model United Nations experience will prepare students to lead in an ever-changing world as students will be able to practice their public speaking and debating skills, learn to negotiate diplomatically, and create solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
In light of current events taking place around us, we are excited to announce that our theme for this year’s conference is “Combatting crises in a globalized world.” Through fruitful debate, we hope all delegates are able to develop a broad perspective about living in a global society, and are able to develop a critical understanding of the social, political, economic, and environmental challenges confronting the international community.
Our aspiration for Virtual GWAMUN is that delegates leave the conference with new-found knowledge, perspectives, and ideas in order to combat issues in our world. Our team shall ensure that all the benefits of a live conference will be mimicked virtually to allow delegates to have a complete, yet unique experience.
With that said, we look forward to your active participation in our conference. We would like to thank you in advance, for we have faith that, with our combined efforts, we will be able to make Virtual GWAMUN a productive, memorable, and inspiring experience for all those involved.
We hope you leave GWAMUN having developed yourselves not only as a delegate through the debate sessions, but also as a global citizen that has the capabilities to address real-world issues.
